Connect your domain using Squarespace
Follow this guide if Squarespace manages your domain’s DNS. We use example.com as an example; select your own domain when following the steps.
1. Request your DNS records
Email support@wodboard.com, saying “Please send us our DNS records.” Include the domain you want to connect.
We’ll send you your A, CNAME and TXT records. Wait until you receive these before making changes. Use the exact values we supply.
2. Open your DNS settings
- Sign in and open your Domains dashboard.
- Select your domain.
- Select DNS, then DNS Settings.
If another provider manages your DNS, make the changes there instead. Contact us if you’re unsure where to make the changes.
Take a screenshot of your existing records before editing. Only change the website records described below. Keep email records and records for other services unchanged. Do not change your nameservers.
Updating these website records will replace the connection to your previous website, so make the changes when you’re ready to switch.
Check existing website records before continuing
You may see a Squarespace Defaults section containing records that connect your domain to a Squarespace website. These need replacing when moving your website to us.
Send us a screenshot before deleting a group of records or removing anything you’re unsure about. We’ll confirm which website records to remove. Keep email presets, verification records and unrelated custom records.
If several A records cover your main domain, ask us which old website records need replacing. Leave records with other names unchanged.
3. Update the A record
Under Custom Records, edit the relevant existing record or select Add record.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Type | A |
| Name | @ |
| IP Address | The IP address we supplied |
| TTL | Leave at the default setting |
Save the record. Complete any security verification Squarespace requests.
4. Update the CNAME record
Under Custom Records, edit the CNAME record named www , or add one if it doesn’t exist.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Type | CNAME |
| Name | www |
| Alias Data / Value | The CNAME target we supplied |
| TTL | Leave at the default setting |
Save it. Copy the target exactly, without adding https:// or a page address. If Squarespace reports a conflict, contact us before deleting anything else.
5. Add the TXT record
Under Custom Records, select Add record.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Type | TXT |
| Name | The host we supplied, usually @ |
| Text | The full TXT value we supplied |
| TTL | Leave at the default setting |
Save it. Add this as a separate record. Do not replace or delete existing TXT records, including email verification and security records.
6. Let us know
Reply to our email once all three records are saved. We’ll check the connection, including any other settings that may affect your website.
Allow up to 48 hours for DNS changes to update everywhere. Some visitors may still see your previous website during this time.
If anything looks different or you’re unsure, send us a screenshot and we’ll help, or arrange a call.
