Communication tools in WodBoard

This article aims to explore the functionality and distinctions between announcements, broadcasts and communities. All play a crucial role in effectively communicating with your gym members, whether through a monthly newsletter, a to the point push notification or a post on the Communities board.

Announcements

An announcement is a notification that will appear as a mobile push notification. This will appear at the top of your customer's dashboard and customers without the app will be sent an email instead.

To set this up:

  • Communications -> Announcements -> New Announcement
  • Create your push notification message and email which can include more text.

  • Select your audience, this may be all customers with a product or a saved/past audience.

  • Input your message and preview on screen to left. Do the same for the email and hit SEND.

  • Announcement will be sent out in seconds.

Broadcasts

broadcast is a much more customisable email that will have your gym's branding and can be targeted as a more specific audience by e.g. location if a gym has multiple locations and can be used as a transactional or marketing message. These are email format only.

To set this up:

  • Communications -> Broadcast -> New Broadcast
  • Define your audience (same options as Announcements)
  • Choose if it is a transactional or marketing message. See the difference below.

  • Create your message. Note the use of variables for both the header and body of the email. You can choose to save as draft or send now.

Communities

Communities is a unique feature to WodBoard that was created to ease the pain of many communication channels for gym owners, and a way of bringing the community together. It appears as a feed in which you can post comments, videos, and images on the dashboard of both staff members and customers.

How to access Communities?

Communities is assessable through the dashboard for both members and staff.

The feed on communities will only populate if:

  • You have a membership/pass
  • If you have been active within the last 30 days

How to regulate Communities?

If you need to ban a customer from posting in Communities:

  • Find Customer click on 'edit' under Communities
  • Change to Banned and Save

Can you have more than one Community?

You can create more than one community for things like a Nutrition Challenge or Weightlifting Club members. Once created, members will have a drop-down where they can select the group they are wishing to post in. All posts will come into their main feed on the dashboard.

To set up a new Community:

  • Settings -> Business Details -> Communities (edit) -> Create New
  • Name your Community, choose your Member group and Type (Anyone can post or Staff only can post).
